....this Friday I head up to near where I grew up for a few days chasing hogs and deer around the hillsides and then I work most of next week and I am on leave. On the 27th me and my best friend jet over to New Zealand and after a day and a bit preparing there we get choppered into a state forest and dropped off for ten days hunting Sika..finally have all the permits and authorities for guns at both ends of the trip sorted out so now it is just fitting all my junk into my pack !!

I'm really looking forward to getting to follow along Andy. New Zealand is one of the places I dream of hunting when I close my eyes at night smile Good luck, safe travels, and fair weather!!

Hope you have fun time during both trips mate!

I suppose next time you'll be going into the Fiordland National Park in NZ. That place is just beautiful and primal! When you do, make sure to take fishing gear as well! There's some really sizable salmon there!

Looking forward to the photo-report from the trip! wink

Good luck with your NZ hunting trip, Andy.

I already know you will enjoy the other trip up the valley. grin

Thanks all...weekend was enjoyable. Most about getting my rifle right and I have done that. Shot a fawn and a hog in my wandering and sat through a couple of wild storms ! Got home to fine the sedan battered by hail and the solar sheet over the front verandah ventilated, but nothing that can't be fixed.

NO doubt !! Got a slightly smaller camera for the task (as I have to carry the fugger on my back for 10 days) but it still takes a nice pic.

I remember Bob Penfold prior to NZ hunting trips, he used to train by running up and down the steps on a railway overpass.

Those mountains are steep, a helicopter sorts them out though. grin
