Unfortunately that's the way how things go here... and you guys have similar problems in California, don't you?

The saddest thing is that a lot of those bush fires happen because someone goes out and starts them!

Today is the anniversary of the bombing of Darwin in our Northern Territory.
A very good friend of mine was in charge of one of the major cattle drives to hinder the Japanese from getting easy food.
He is deceased now, but spent time telling me about the drive, and showing me some old black and white pictures.

Can't see the pictures (secure site) but I imagine the stories were great.

God bless those old boys, and if they have passed, God bless their families!!

We've got some weird stuff happening out here this winter. Snow fall is extra heavy with lots of structural damage. This has put a bunch of wildlife right in backyards and even within the city. We actually had a gentleman killed when he walked around the corner of his barn and startled a muledeer. It either reared up and struck him or he hit his head in the fall.

We've got a couple of bull elk living right in town, and the next town over has antelope in their city park. Deer are all over trying to scrounge anything. Crazy. I've never seen anything like it.

It must have been a hell of a winter. I would have thought that wildlife would do that as a very last resort.

It is a last resort. We are getting rain, they are getting snow. And, wait till this one heads east....

They are claiming the Jetstream has set up a "river" of storms...

We have had an odd winter. Especially the past couple weeks. It has been anywhere from the mid 50's to nearly 70 everyday. I have been heading out in a short sleeve t-shirt for most outdoor activities. This is our May weather.

We have also been having a ration of fires. Way more than normal and I suspect we have a fire bug running around trying to see how bad he can make things.

I am hoping we get some snow from the mass of Rain that has been hitting Cali.

Yes, they are desperate Ian. Much of the wildlife is suffering terribly. Fish & Game indicates that we may see as much as 80% die-off of big game animals here in our county. People and organizations are trying to help, and feed sites have been established, but I don't really know how to convey the enormity of it.

We have lost many structures to the snow load. I don't know how much the actual tally is, but it is the most ever recorded in over a hundred years here. Our grocery store caved in, there was a bowling alley which is now FLAT, loss of mechanics shops, houses, garages, crop storage facilities, etc.

building collapses

flooding

wildlife

It looks like the gentleman that died was not kicked. They believe he was either knocked down, or fell down trying to get out of the way of the startled deer, and ended up having a heart attack. So at least the animals didn't strike him, but I doubt that is much consolation to his family.

That's incredible, ad that to our extreme summer, hottest on living record.

The worlds weather patterns are becoming very unstable.
