Done! grin

Cool! Anyway you can edit it as it shows up in the survival forum page, too, Ian? Thank you for doing that.

What shot size/ loads and distance are you using on those bad boys. grin
I'm thinking 2's ??

It's a bit of a different philosophy with the turkeys vs other heavy birds like geese. You are making head-shots on turkeys and handle the shotgun more like a rifle. I have a really tight predator choke that I leave in the 12 gauge all the time. Combined with 2 oz of copper-plated #5 shot in a 3" magnum shell I've taken them out to 45 yards, and still kept all the shot in the head and neck. You just have to keep from shooting them while they're strutting and fanned out. While effective, it makes for poor picture-taking if you do that laugh If I were using a shotgun with a more open fixed choke, I'd go with something like a #2 shot, though

Thanks elof. Do your turkeys look like these? Just smaller? This was a nice bird for here. I think the eastern variety get bigger here in our state, but I was happy with this gobbler. It weighed 18 pounds, that's a bit over 8 kg I think.

I've got a few pictures of an Aussie Turkey, I'll dig em up. There was one hanging around the house here a few years ago and drove my dog Stan to distraction.
It was like a game to the Turkey, he would tempt Stan to chase him then fly up above him and sit in a tree to look at him, then figure out another way to tempt him.

Stan could already taste him, but could never get close enough to really get him. grin

I've made it a sticky, HK. I can't see Josh having an issue with it.
It deserves to be up the top anyways. grin

I never get tired of seeing the black fallow bucks, especially that one. Is he your best one Andy?

I had to google the javan rusa. Man those are a neat deer species, too.

Neat looking bird. Different than ours, and yet you can tell it's a turkey nonetheless.

Looks like a turkey to me. We have several hundred along our creek, which I consider my pantry smile
