Digging through my old trunk I've found a near full can of Nobels pistol No 2 powder.

Does anyone have loading data for that powder?

I can't remember buying it, but can only assume it was for my Colt Python in .357mag, that would go back to early 70's

More than just a bit of passive research produced little, save that it is thought to be a fast burning powder ideal for 9MM.

Carl,
I'm thinking of dumping it.
The only thing that I could find was some empty cans on ebay, being of interest to collectors.

from memory, I think I was using 5 or six grains in .357mag for wadcutters for practice.
Not worth the risk, I don't think.

I'd agree. I had some extruded powder that rode the back of a truck for about 5 years. Loaded a few rounds with it and ruined a pistol. Those extrusions broke up into little flakes and I got way more than I planned...

When in doubt, dump. smile

Maybe you can find a collector?

I have no info on that either Ian. As you say, not worth the risk.

Well, I found it.
Tucked away in a box in the shed, I'm still not sure if I should try it out, the lid has been on tight though, and it always has been kept in a dry dark place.

I have obviously used it in my .375 Colt Python for reduced loads and it would be a temptation to try it out in my .44mag Marlin rifle with some light loads. grin
Wish the prices of firearms were still the same price as in this book, center-fire rifles for under 60 pounds, all prices are still in pounds, shillings and pence. laugh

The data might be hard to read on line unless opened up to full size.

I'm surprised that something hadn't eaten it in the shed, but it is still in remarkably good condition.

I would be surprised if the data changed much.

Ian,

Just improvise a explosive device for the car burners, if it works out as planned, just tell the cops they had an accident... If it doesn't, no big loss...

I'm with elof_alv, but don't kill them off with this IED- leave enough to be an example for all of the would-be car burners...

Solve the bigger problem smile

With my knowledge of IDE's it would be me blowing myself up. grin

btw,
I'm dumping that powder and buying some fresh Aussie made stuff. I opened the lid yesterday and it doesn't even smell like gun powder any more.

It seems that we in OZ are finding it hard to buy IMR powder these days, and that much of our ADI powders get exported to the US and sold as Hodgdon Powders.
