my dream rifle is a m14 with a bullpup conversion stock

love the m14 is a great rifle on its own but bullpup make the recoil more controllable and makes the rifle more compact
but that kit would prob be like 2-3k depending on attachments

I'm looking forward to trying out the Bergers. I've mainly used Sierra's, but some of the Bergers in the 215gr range look pretty promising. They have a respectable BC. I might even look at some of the 230gr ones. I can seat them past magazine length. Their BC is pretty dang close to that of the .338.

I have a CZ bolt action .22 that I wouldn't part with as well.

My favorite, particularly around here is my .22M Winchester lever. That extra power just makes the difference and gives a little extra distance without paying the earth for ammo.

Also a little Henry .22 with a red dot scope, its also a handy little rifle.

Up in the north west, its my .308 by a country mile. grin

I was looking at a CZ bolt gun mannlicher in 22 mag the other day...if it shoot as well as my 22lr- nice!!

I, too, will never part with my .22.

The Lapua BC is a bit better than the 300...

In my mind, being able to carry 500 rounds is nice! Also, being in the NorthEast...shooting distances aren't long and the critters generally aren't big. A rare moose or black bear are as big as they go in CT.

RPN-

Agreed on the 500 rounds. In my humble opinion, a good .22 will put more meat on the table CONSISTENTLY than most other rounds. This, at least, is true for me. And, I believe the lowly .22 is greatly underrated when it comes to larger game IF you pick your shot and limit the range- again true for me.

Also, I like the subsonic capabilities for a quiet "better than a slingshot" alternative. My M6 will also shoot slugs out of the .410 barrel should I need a .45 long colt type of option...

I've had a fascination for the Sako quad, with the quick barrel change, their expensive though, about $3500.00 here.

I completely agree with this. A well-placed .22 round is deadly.

I agree.
Kangaroo shooters in early Australia used .22's exclusively. Shots were well placed and within killing range. Here they now mostly use the .223 and between that it was the .222 from the sixties.

My uncles living in the north west of NSW would head out for 12 months or more shooting Roo's for skins to sell during breaks from shearing. Their only firearms were .22's.
In those days I imagine the humble .22 was far less developed in what we buy today.
