So when you have a few days off on the road, you turn into the tour gunsmith.

I built these yesterday and was able to get them out and sighted in today. Not a bad way to spend some time off.
I'm heading to Colorado tonight and we found a 600 yard range that we are going to tomorrow. Here's to hoping we have some good weather.

Sweet!
Is that a flash eliminator on the barrel, or a muzzle break?

btw, what are they? Don't forget some pics tomorrow. grin

I'm off to the club this afternoon to burn some gunpowder for an nasal fix, so I'll see if I can get a couple of pics. laugh

Ian, that's a muzzle break on there. Actually, it's a muzzle break and a mounting system for a suppressor. The collar on the barrel acts as an aligning device and stop for the suppressor. The suppressor is designed to go back over the barrel instead of starting at the end of the barrel and going forward. It helps cut down on the overall length of the rifle and at the same time help keep it from being muzzle heavy. Much better balance overall.
Without the suppressor, the brake on it makes it pretty loud. And you don't want to be standing nearby. You can feel it pretty good.

These are variants of an AR type rifle. 18" and 16" versions. But with a match barrel on them. Great fun to shoot and incredibly accurate.

LOL. I'm going to start going Wednesday arvo's again, haven't been for a while, not since my old shootin' partner up and died on me.
It was good to see old mates again, most are retirees like myself, some are old land men, so I've got some in common with them.

My old Buddie, one of the old time bushies died from cancer at the young age of 86. grin
