... so last year I figured out the load I was going to use in my .375H&H when I toddle off to Africa in August but time has been against me since. Also had to solve a crimp issue to get the big pills nice and tight in the case. So after some experimentation and a couple of buggered cases today I finally got it all sorted out and started dumping some powder into cases and stuffing projectiles in on top.... wink

Just a few today, another 50 or so before I head bush next month to play.... laugh

There's some sore shoulders in those fellas. grin

I've noticed that a lot of the modern projectiles have plastic tips these days?

The only ones that I've tried are the Hornady LeverEvolutions.
But none on game so far. How do they go?
I imagine very well as they are the latest in projectiles.

Those plastic caps are only to ensure feeding in bolt rifles. They literally snap on and off (not like the Lever Revolutions or Nosler Ballistic Tips etc). In fact I HAVE to take them off to seat the bullets as they are too soft and spongy and so give inconsistent results.

For a big rifle it is pretty mid to use Ian... all things considered... smile

I had a shot out of a .460 Weatherby Magnum some years ago up at Seaham range, it belonged to the then owner of Cessnock gun shop.

Only the one shot, but that was enough. grin

edited to add:
I did have a shot out of a 375H&H Magnum up at Gregory Downs in the Gulf, there was a couple of fellas up there after Buffalo, not sure what his mate had, but it was a big bugger as well. laugh

Ian, I had a .460WM for a bit, it was a honking big round. At the time I could just not justify owning it (well more running it as it was ridiculous to shop for). Nothing here in Aus (realistically the world) that the .375H&H can't well account for if I do my part... wink The H&H is a GREAT hog buster.... spectacular in the extreme. A hog seems to be just solid enough to absorb some of the energy from the round (as oppose to zipping right through). Bunnies make for good shooting practice with a big rifle as well... wink

Can't wait to see what stops those Woodleighs for you Andy. Are they built for any expansion or just extreme penetration?

LMAO. I bet they do. I know what a 30-06 can do to them, mine used to just leave a V shape smear along the grass of mince and fur. grin
