Well I seem to have inherited a huge oak that fell over 2 years ago. Fells wants it gone and knows I use wood to heat my home. Been very busy cutting and hauling.....

That's a good win fall for you. How well does oak burn?

I need to start now for next winter, I usually leave all that for the last minute. grin

Yes it is! Oak is one of my favorite woods to burn- Hot, slow, smells good, etc. I also like the coals it leaves for me in the morning- a bit like charcoal that has not yet burned out. I toss another pair of logs on the fire, let them sit a spell, then slide a small bit of kindling underneath and I am done for 3 to 4 hours (and warm, too smile )

Well here I am, only 1 cord of mixed Oak / Eucalyptus and 1 cord of pine put by.. that will last 1/2 the winter. I need at least 2 more cords, but will end up with about 4 I suspect.

But that will all be seasoned oak that died upright. No rot, dirt or bugs (that I have seen so far). smile

I think it'd pay itself off if all the neighbors in a 20 mile radius knew you had that machine...
