No doubt, some critters are a lot tougher than ya might think. Guess I've been lucky, though I do get close and really work to place my shots. You can't pound them with a bow. I do take liberties with the 45-70, but to me the stalk is the hunt, so I am able to place shots there too.

My one real risky shot was with a .338/475 at 350 yards, sighted to zero at 300 yards. But he was nice and laid right there for me. smile

Its also the advantage of hunting from horseback, they treat you like any other livestock, and let you get close.

Also a handy getaway vehicle if it all goes assup. grin
I normally always slipped off the horse, but kept the reins in the crook of my arm, so I had control of my getaway.
A good horse will stand firm, a bad one will run backwards and leave you high and dry.
I've done it both ways. grin

A real good horse would pack the meat AND you out after the kill. smile

LOL. That's a given. grin

We need some more hunting pics, desperately here. I think its Josh's turn now, seeing as he's been planted up in that blind for a couple of weeks. grin

I wish that were the case. Life keeps getting in the way. I will get some pics up here as soon as I get a chance to hang out in my stand.

Shoot, I thought someone posted something to look at, LOL.

I've got a few to share, but short on time with a man out for surgery at work. Soon, very soon, ha! smile

Looking forward to them, HK.
