Another weekend past, and another week ready to begin.

Tomorrow morning I have to take one of my dogs in for surgery. He tore his ACL and it's one of those things that won't get better on its own. He'll have about a 3 or 4 month recovery. Rough time on him, that's for sure.

A dog really can be your best friend. Loyal, loving, always happy to see you. Pretty damn good qualities to have if you ask me.

SW Idaho, huh? We were neighbors for a bit. Montana, across the Flathead from Glacier and about 15 miles to Canada (by road).

We were even closer neighbors when I was in Montana then. I was in Libby and Kalispell for a good stretch about 20 years ago.

Polebridge (North of Columbia Falls).

I know where that is. I cruised timber from your neck of the woods to the Canada and Idaho borders, but mostly up in the Yaak. Nice part of the world. I was there from about '86 to '94. Never seen so many whitetail bucks and mountain lion as that country had.

Hope that dog comes out of it alright, DB. I've got a few in the kennel myself. Amazing how they're always happy to see you and ready to go huntin', even if noone else is. smile

DB-
Smoke up for your dog. I get the connection between you- have even shared it a time or two with a canine of my own. Just love that critter back to health.

Back in the day (1961), I was part-time timber cruiser, faller, smoke jumper and the like. Schooled in Missoula. Been all over the Yaak.

Sorry to hear about your dog mate. Been there and done that myself.
And true, dogs are really mans best friend.

I've bonded very closely with some of my horses as well, a stock horse, Toby and particularly my old hunting horse "Marbuck" He was a stallion, so he used to get into some mischief, but I swear sometimes he used to talk to me.

Talking about it gives me that old itch to go roam. Makes me a little homesick, or maybe just nostalgic. Good memories, though.

DB, hope everything goes smoothly and your 'boy' heals up and recovers quickly.
I remember how heartbroken my mum was when my 'sister' (used to tease my mum that dog replaced the kids that moved out) had the same surgery.
And how painful for me it was to watch my cat when he tore his tendon and got a 'terminator arm'...
